My New Essential Roadside-Emergency Item

I just found Works For Me Wednesday, and thought it sounded cool. Here’s mine.

This winter I discovered a new item to keep in my car in case of emergency.

A sled.

Forgive me if it’s something standard I just never noticed before.

With three children under age-five it’s my new essential to recommend to anybody with more than one kid. When it’s cold (we’ve had a couple -40 stretches already this winter), you just don’t want to move at a pre-schooler’s pace. At least, not my pre-schoolers’ outdoor pace. They seem to slow with the cold, like molasses.

  1. Wow! That’s a great idea. I love it. We also have had very, very cold weather and it terrifies me the thought of being stuck in the van with the kids in negative temperatures. Thank you for this life-saving tip!

  2. That sounds like a good plan for folks living in snowy areas. I was also thinking you could spontaneously pull over and take advantage of a great hill any time.

We have about .021 inches of snow today. My kids went “sledding” on trash can lids. Hah!

  3. Oh this is great! I love snow and wish we had more here. I used to carry a sled in the trunk every time we went out of town where it might *possibly* snow, just so I could take advantage of it. ;)

P.S. Thanks for your comment on the Sing to Your Sweetie post. I think you have a great idea for Valentines right up your alley! You could write or sing a love song for your husband. If he requests it, he would probably love that! If you are nervous, you could tape it in advance, and snuggle him while you listen by candlelight. :)
